Full-time Pay Range is based on experience: $29.96 - $40.45 The
Staff Training and Development Coordinator is a Virginia
State-licensed Registered Nurse responsible for planning,
developing, coordinating, tracking, and evaluating Supportive
Living's education and leadership development programs. Supportive
Living includes Transitional Care, Complete Living Care, and
Assisted Living. This role is responsible for programs that include
licensed/non-licensed clinical & non-clinical care staff, and for
ensuring compliance with community standards, as well as the
Commonwealth of Virginia and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid
Services Regulations. This role ensures that all education is
delivered through various methods (e-Learning, classroom delivery,
clinical settings, one-on-one, and any other method deemed
appropriate, such as video or teleconference) that support the
organization’s mission, vision, and values. This role is
responsible for serving as an educational resource for all of
Supportive Living. Registered Nurse (RN) with 3-5 years (RN)
experience, educational or clinical leadership experience ,
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. A . Essential
Functions – Education, Orientation, Professional Development, and
Regulatory Compliance 1. Oversees all facets of the Supportive
Living orientation, onboarding, education & professional
development. a. Effectively coordinates, leads & evaluates new
nursing & Woodland Park staff classroom orientation. b. Effectively
coordinates all mandatory in- services/professional development
using internal and external resources. c. In coordination with SL
Administration and Nursing leadership, develops, leads, and
evaluates VMRC nursing in-services for Complete Living Care (CLC),
Transitional Care (TC), and Assisted Living (AL). d. Effectively
coordinates, leads & evaluates Education Day for all staff. e.
Consults with Supportive Living leadership to determine additional
education needs and develops plans for each budget year.
Coordinates plans and budget needs with the Vice President of
Supportive Living. f. Serves as the primary instructor for the
Nurse Aide Training program and Registered Medication Aide
programs. 2. Monitors and ensures compliance requirements with
federal, state, local, and VMRC standards and regulations in
coordination with SL leadership. 3. Schedules and coordinates all
nursing clinical experiences for local schools and colleges.
Oversees these experiences in collaboration with the Director of
Nursing. 4. Establishes and maintains professional relationships
with clinical instructors for local schools and colleges. 5.
Assists with ensuring nursing policies and procedures are reviewed
and revised periodically to comply with governmental and VMRC
standards. 6. Oversees compliance with standardized orientation of
new staff in Supportive Living (SL). Provides assistance with
education and/or professional development opportunities to ensure
regulatory compliance for staff working in designated Memory Care
neighborhoods, as well as staff who serve residents with memory
impairments. 7. Provides consultative services to Supportive Living
staff regarding their development plan. Functions in a liaison
capacity, problem-solving between supervisors and employees as
needed. 8. Completes a Supportive Living leadership and staff
development plan defining all compliance training, strategic
training that includes VMRC vision, mission, and values, and any
employee electives. 9. Effectively and efficiently completes
special projects as assigned. B. Essential Functions –
Communication, Leadership, and Teamwork 1. Coordinates with
Director of Assisted Living, Director of Nursing, Assistant
Director of Nursing, and other nurse leaders on all education and
professional development needs in Supportive Living (SL) where
appropriate. 2. Collaborates with all SL leadership to include
education and professional development programs for other
department staff in Assisted Living, Complete Living Care &
Transitional Care, where appropriate. 3. Integrates education and
professional leadership development for the SL program (all VMRC
staff are welcome). 4. Recommends, develops, and implements
educational changes and/or professional development opportunities
that will enhance SL service programs. 5. Actively participates in
the Supportive Living service line as a member of the leadership
team. C. Essential Functions – Resident Care / Meaningful Life 1.
Assists the Directors of Nursing and the Director of Assisted
Living in providing educational opportunities for staff that
improve resident engagement, meaningful life, and quality of care
for all of Supportive Living. 2. Provides coordination and support
for Resident and Staff ppd screenings. 3. Ensures that educational
opportunities are provided for staff that promote and uphold
residents' rights and confidentiality. 4. Serves as an advocate for
the SL area on care and service innovation and policy changes. 5.
Champions a meaningful life for Supportive Living. D. Essential
Functions – Personal and Professional Development 1. Assumes
responsibility for and participates in staff development
(professional growth) and training to remain knowledgeable of
market and industry trends, competitors, and best practices for
non-profit CCRCs. 2. Works effectively with nurse leaders to
coordinate and ensure staff have up-to-date nursing skills, such as
medication administration, blood draws, catheter insertion, and can
provide education about those skills using a hands-on instructional

Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Knowledgeable and

other audio-visual equipment. Ability to use multiple and varied
training methodologies in order to meet the training needs of
staff. Knowledge of and ability to incorporate adult learning
theory into daily practice (motivational theory/employee
motivation, etc.). Effectively plan/develop, coordinate, implement,
track & evaluate an education, orientation & training program for
licensed & non-licensed clinical care staff that is also beneficial
